You connect the discharge side of the pump with PVC pipe to the inlet side of the filter or back wash valve. For above ground pools this is usually done with a section of ribbed hose.
Yes. Running the pool filter pump while swimming has no adverse effects to the swimmers.
To winterize your inground swimming pool, first backwash the filter, and then disconnect the pump. Purchase winterizing chemicals for the pool water, and be sure to use a pool cover.
All swimming pools with a pump and filter should have a back wash system. You must back wash your swimming pool filter when indicated by the pressure gauge on your filter. ANSWER 2:: Cartridge filters have no means to back wash. These filters must be broken down and cleaned manually. K
A small sand filter 40-60 sq ft. and a small pump 3/4 HP

The "backwash knob" - usually called the handle - is located on top of the filter or just to the side of the filter on a sand filter. They could be on the very bottom of the filter or to one side of the filter but never on the pump. The filter is the large tank.
You can probably find the plumbing to step down to the right size but the pool pump will have more water flow then a garden hose can safely handle. Your going to ruin either the pump or yourself.
The best way would be to unplug the swimming pool filter, open the drain valve on your pool filter turn the pump back on and drop the water level to the desired level about 2 inches above the skimmer.
You should never run a swimming-pool pump dry! The most likely problem, from the rather flimsy evidence in your question hinting at it not rotating, is not with the pump or its motor but a fault in the electrical supply to the pool plant, or in the timer or other pump controller.
The purpose of a swimming pool heat pump is to rise the temperature of the water. The pool then can be used for swimming even on days when the weather is not perfect. The swimming pool season is extended.
Firstly, the pump is not a sand filter system. The pump is the one with the motor attached and it pumps water not sand. The large round tank is the "sand" filter. You would have to find a skimmer made for vinyl pools with gaskets. It attaches to the wall of the pool and is seen "hanging" from the outside of the pool. The type of pool and equipment have no factor in choosing a skimmer. another good way to go is the Dragonfly Super skimmer this is a floating pool skimmer and only requires a hose to connect it to suction
My swimming pool corner shoots are fine, thank you. If your swimming pool works, but no water is coming through the returns (the little jet-thingys, or "shoots"(?) then mabye your pump works, but the pool is not working. Try setting the filter to bypass or discharge and see what happens. If nothing changes (no moving water), there could be a problem within the pump, (jammed or clogged impeller)
