Hi, I faced the same problem and solved it using the s-video cable. The dell d610 has an s-video output and speaker output ports. now i am going to try and make this as simple as possible.
buy an s-video cable. this cable will have a black 8-pin plug at one end(that goes into your laptop's s-video port) and the other end of the cable is a component video cable(yellow in color and is plugged into your tv). Now this is just for the video output. you need another cable has audio jack on one end(that goes into your laptops stereo headphone/speakers connector) and on the other end has two tv component video cables(1 red and 1 white). connect all these cables(i am sure you will figure out which cable goes where....) and open up your ati console and go to the tv settings. the rest is pretty simple.

The Dell Latitude c840 is a laptop. Some of the specifications for the Dell c840 are; Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor, 15" LCD, USB 1.1, 32 or 64MB DDR video memory on high resolution, and wireless ready capability.
From looking at the Dell website it does not look like Dell says a Dell LCD TV online. I suggest calling their customer service number and asking if they have one available. 1-888-782-3355

I believe Dell has stopped producing LCD TVs. There is currently only one Dell TV available on Amazon--the 26" model. You might try searching other vendors who specialize in used TVs.
A good Dell LCD television can range in price depending the size you need. Those prices can start at around 200 dollars and rise from there. The following is link to the Dell website, http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/services/main/lcd-tv_services?c=us&l=en

NOTICE - Do not connect the thumb screw too tightly as it could cause damage to the speakers and LCD TV.When relocating the LCD TV, do not carry the LCD TV by the speakers as this could potentially damage both the speakers and LCD TV.
Dell has some excellent tilting VESA mounts that would be excellent for LCD TV's.
