1.Launch the iTunes application by selecting it through the "Start" menu on a Windows-based PC or clicking the Dock icon on a Mac.

2.Choose the "Add to Library" option from the "File" menu at the top of the iTunes window.

3.Navigate to the location of the AVI file you want to convert to an iPod-compatible format.

4.Click to highlight the AVI file you want to convert in the "Add to Library" window, then click the "Choose" button to add the file to the iTunes library .

5.Click the "Library" tab on the left side of the main iTunes window, then click to highlight the AVI file you just added to the iTunes library.

6.Click the "Create iPod or iPhone Version" option in the "Advanced" menu at the top of the iTunes window to convert the selected AVI file to an iPod format. Depending on the size of the file, the conversion process could take up to a half-hour to complete.
