That would require some serious machining. Far easier simply to get an alternator to install instead.

After the generator is removed, the alternator will have to be mounted where the pulley lines up with the generator belt perfectly. If the alternator does not have a built in regulator then a regulator will have to be installed. If the falcon is a 6 volt system then the starter and all lighting will have to be changed to 12 volts.

Some older Beetles utilized a generator, which would be installed instead of an alternator. You may not have a generator, but an alternator (which would explain your trouble finding it) they are both large cylindrical units that are spun by the belt. It should be slightly right of the center of the engine compartment, on top out in the open.
Buy a conversion kit, CIP1.com carries them. I did one and love the extra power.
