Low voltage can be turned in high voltage by using so called Transformers, wich are made by coils and iron. When a voltage passes it it will get a high voltage out of it.Exaple a 6v can be turned into 300v and using this idea, cameras wok with the same prinicple.By using two transformers they converst 6v to 300v than to 5000v,incredible,isnt it.
If this question is about alternating current, such as your Home Electricity service, there are several ways to do it:
Here are just two examples:
a) Use a circuit which includes special semiconductor-based components which "chop" the voltage waveform to achieve lower ac voltages. Modern light dimmers use that type of solution.
b) Use a transformer.
HOWEVER
If you want to drop the voltage of your home electricity service - which is a dangerous alternating voltage - to be able to power some equipment which needs a low voltage direct current - such as, say, to charge a car battery - DON'T EVEN THINK OF DOING IT BY BUILDING ANYTHING YOURSELF UNLESS YOU ARE A TRAINED ELECTRICIAN! There are many low-price battery charger units available which will safely do the job for you.
If this question is about dropping the voltage of an existing direct current supply, it can be done by adding resistance in series with the equipment you want to run. But to do this you have to know what the expected current draw would be if the equipment were connected to the right voltage. Knowing this you can size the resistance needed to drop the voltage to the level you need. This would require that there is no fluctuation in current drawn by the equipment. Otherwise you get voltage fluctuating also and you do not want that.
A transformer is a device to convert high voltage AC to low voltage AC & vice-versa. It works on the principle of induction. Since induction occurs only in an AC supply, a transformer cannot work on DC.. So, it is not possible to convert DC supply to AC using transformer. You would need an inverter to convert DC to AC.
no, the transformer is much more efficient <><><> HOWEVER- a transformer only changes the voltage of AC current- it does not change it to DC. You will still need diodes or rectifiers. You can also use a motor/generator- a 230v AC motor turns a 12 v DC generator.
Usualy the largest current is at the lowest voltage side ; so the largest conductor section determine the lowest voltage side ; if the transformer is a set up one , the primary will be the lowest voltage winding ; in the other hand , it 'll be the highest voltage winding
The transformer should provide 144-0-144 v to have a no-load voltage of 500 v dc in a voltage-doubler using two diodes.
Frequency does not change when you use a step-up or step-down transformer. Only current and voltage is changed.
What is the math in a voltage doubler without a transformer? how doesa voltage doubler without a transformer?
yes. using step up transformer we can convert low vlg to hi vlg
It convert 220v or 115 to -12v and +12v by using many components and step down transformer.

Clarification needed because without being electrified requires explanation.

You don't. Transformers only work with AC voltage. Their input will be an AC waveform, and their output will be an AC waveform. Other electronics are used to convert the stepped down AC waveform from the transformer to DC.
A: Using a diode and a capacitor and replicating for the voltage that is desired. Be aware that the final voltage can be very hi for 120 v AC and be aware that the voltage is there but the power is limited due to repeating losses along the way.
Of course you can! A transformer can change the voltage from 120 to 36. A rectifier can turn AC into DC. If you need constant voltage, capacitors to regulate flow can be added.
Changing the voltage is done by using a transformer. These voltages are dangerous and the job should be done by an electrician who knows the safety regulations that must be followed in your country.
