How can the frequency and voltage of an alternator be changed?

The frequency is changed by varying its speed, and the the voltage is changed by varying its field current.

Why frequence do not change in transformer?

Voltage at secondary coil depends on differentiation of current at primary coil. In case of sinusoidal current, differentiation leads to sinusoid with same frequency, thus frequency does not change.

Does a transformer changes the frequency of incoming supply?

Yes the transformer effects the incoming frequency supply. This frequency is dependent on the core lamination of the transformer the weightier the core lamination the lesser will be the frequency we get and vice verse..

Which type of transformer is used in sonometer?

A sonometer is used to determine the frequency of alternating current. A step down transformer is used for the determination of frequency of A.C. because the voltage of the A.C. mains is 220V, which is dangerous. The step down transformer reduces this voltage to 6 volts.

Does transformer posses current changing property?

A: Absolutely while the voltage can be changed the current is limited by the design or kva

What will happen if you pass AC current through a transformer?

If the transformer was designed for the specific frequency in use, it will step up or down voltage and current as it was designed to do. Transformers transform how power "looks" by increasing and decreasing voltage and current, while keeping power output equivalent to input (if you ignore the transformer losses).

Why are most chargers very inefficient?

Voltage must be changed by a transformer, and the alternating current changed to direct current by diodes. Each step has a loss of energy.

Why frequency remains constant in transformer?

First we know that transformer is a statical electrical device that transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another circuit with out change its frequency .....it may be voltage or current is change simultaneosuly or separately .... and point is why does not change the frequency in the transformer because the there is no moving part in transformer....As we know that frequency is depends upon the rotation....

Can a constant dc current can induce a steady state voltage in a transformer?

No, the current has to change for a voltage to be induced in the transformer.

How can you step down a 15kv transformer single phase to 220v?

A transformer steps the voltage of an electrical power supply up or down. The transformer must be correctly designed for the voltage and current levels that it is intended for. Only ac can be used with a transformer, which is designed to work at a particular frequency.

In a 3-phase high voltage star-star connection 140KVA transformer and load phase voltage is 115v and frequency is 400hz what is the total load current?

Maximum load current on a 140KVA, three phase transformer when the output voltage is 115 v phase to phase is: 140kva / sqrt (3) / 115 = 703 Amps. frequency does not matter here.

A transformer can only the voltage of an alternating current?

A transformer can only increase or decrease the voltage of an alternating current, and it is called step-up transformer or step-down transformer accordingly.
