What is the recommended hardness range for salt pools?

Same as Chlorinated pools: 80-120 ppm. A salt pool is the same as a non- salt pool. Only difference is the chlorine is made in the system thru automation/mechanically. With the addition of swimming pool salt to the water it in turn goes thru the device and returns to the pool as chlorine. Otherwise you add the chlorine manually. k

What should the readings be for alkalinity and stabilizer for a salt water swimming pool?

The same as a non-salt system pool. Disregard answer above. The only reading that will remain constant, in the above situation, is the alkalinity =80 - 120 ppm; pH = 7.4 - 7.6 For a salt system pool your conditioner/stabilizer should be slightly higher than a namually fed pool. You should achieve readings of 75 - 85 ppm.

Do salt pool evaporate at a higher rate than non salt pools?

No Pool water evaporates in one day or one week

Can you attach a saltwater system to a proseries pool?

You can attach saltwater system to non-Intex pro series pool.

How much salt should be added to 5000 gallon salt pool to raise it by 200ppm?

For a non-INTEX pool you need 50 lbs. of salt for 2,000 gallons. or water capacity in gallons X 0.025.

How much salt do you add to a non salt water pool We do not have a true salt water system we have a chlorine pool but want to add salt can we do this and how?

40 lbs per 1000 gallons use pure water softener salt just pour it in the leave pump runing pool will start clearing up the first day salt will be gone over night . more is not better do not exceed this formula it will not speed up this process. i have been using this formula for ten years with no problems

Can you convert salt water softner to non salt?

Converting a traditional salt-based water softener to a non-salt system is not a straightforward process. Salt-based systems rely on ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium from hard water, while non-salt softeners, like salt-free conditioners, use different technologies such as template-assisted crystallization (TAC) or electrostatic filtration. You cannot simply remove the salt and expect the system to function properly. Instead, you would need to replace the existing salt-based unit with a non-salt alternative. It's best to consult a professional to evaluate your water quality and determine the best non-salt solution for your home.

How do you vacuum your salt water pool?

You can vacuum a salt water pool the same way you would a non salt water pool. If you are vacuuming on the filter setting, your filter will help to clean the debris out of the pool. If you are dealing with a very dirty pool and use the waste setting, you will be wasting some of the water from the pool in the process. Depending on how much water you take out and need to refill, you will most likely need to add some salt back in to get your salt level back to normal operating levels.

How do you put salt shock in your swimming pool?

If you own a salt pool and you need to raise the salt level, go buy NON-IODIZED salt and add the appropriate amount (as determined by your particular salt-chlorinator's owners' manual) to get the level to where it needs to be. The salt addition process is nothing fancy; cut the corner of the bag with a box cutter and pour in the pool then sweep any that is resting on the bottom to get it to dissolve. Note: Adding salt is not shocking your pool, rather it is loading the gun that can be used to superchlorinate or "Shock" your water.

Can you shock a salt pool with chlorine?

It would be fine to add chlorine, but do it in each corner of the pool. You will not do any harm to the system. Make sure your pool water is balanced. This requires a good proper kit like they use at the pool shops, or have it tested at a computerized pool teting centre. The old large kit that tests for acid levels around 4"x6" is the size of the blue plastic box and roughly 80-100 dollars. a little more salt than not enough is always better. Regards, Peter

Can you backwash onto new sod?

It should not do any harm as long as you don't have a saltwater pool and if it is a salt-water pool that you are using a non-toxic salt like magnesium and potassium chloride rather then the usual Sodium chloride.

Does a saltwater pool require the PH to be adjusted more than a non salt pool?

A salt water pool is still a chlorine pool, but a weaker form of chlorine if you will! Your PH is affected by the reaction of the "chlorine" with the contamination in the pool. Your salt generated chlorine is working harder to kill the bacteria that it can kill. Therefore there is more "demand" in your pool which will require a more consitant Ph adjustment to keep the chlorine active! The "kill rate" or time it takes to kill, of salt generated chlorine is nearly double that of chlorine. E-coli for instance can live in a chlorine pool for up to 96 hours. A salt pool, as much as 180 hours. YUCK! You should be aware that many common pool bacteria have grown immune to chlorine and salt generated chlorine! Chlorine or salt does not kill Cryptosporidium or Girardia! Science has moved well beyond chemical additon to swimming pools. Check the World Health Organizations- Healthy Pool Guidelines!
