How do you cope when you don't see your girlfriend for a long time?

Take advantage of being able to replace your physical closeness with other means of communication. In "olden times," writing letters and/or a weekly phone call did the trick. Sometimes a short visit was possible. Both people need to have a common goal of waiting to be together again--continue your schooling, improve your work situation, save money for the future and in that way be together. Your heart may ache, but paying attention in the meantime may help it work out in the long run.

If you really care for her just try to stay busy with sports, hobbies, etc. until you can see her again. It can be really difficult sometimes but really depends on your relationship with her and how strong your feelings are for each other. If you get someone on the side, she will eventually find out and it could be the end of your relationship.
