You usually caan't copy the whole hard drive. Find the bits you really need to take with you, then providing you are on a PC and not an Apple product, select the files/folders you want to copy, press Ctrl+C or alternatively right click in the select and select copy, then open the USB Drive. Now either press Ctrl+V or right click in the USB Drive folder and select paste.
Through USB connect them.
It won't copy if you manually manage music. Copy the MP3s to your hard drive and then import the folders in ITunes.
hard copy relates to information that is in phsical and tangable form, like a print out, on paper. soft copy relates to information on digital means, usb, hard drive email ect.

Well, you could just buy a USB CD drive and then plug it in to your mini-notebook. However, there are other ways of doing what you want. If you have a computer that does have a CD drive and a USB port, what you want to do is very easy. Put the CD into the computer's CD drive. Copy and paste the files into Your Documents (or wherever else you store things on your computer. Just make sure you know where you saved the file). After you have copied and pasted all of the data onto your computer's hard drive, insert the USB drive/memory stick and copy and paste all of the data that you got from the CD onto the USB drive. With the files on the USB drive, you should then be able to plug the USB drive out of your computer and into your mini notebook.
Non game files are easy to download into a USB drive. Just use the controller options key over the file you want to download which they might call copy and have the USB dive plugged into the USB port.
