There are a few prerequisites. One is knowing a programming language capable of writing a bot. The second is getting permission from Answers.com to create a bot. To get permission, please message a Community Assistant or WikiAnswers @ Answers.com (no spaces). Incorrectly writing a bot can harm Answers.com for everyone. It is something not to be taken lightly.
Yes, WikiAnswers employs a number of bots. See the related question below for a listing.
Due to the number of questions submitted each day to WikiAnswers, a number will inevitably be neglected. These bots help clean up these questions so they have a better chance of being answered.
Their scripting would be constantly being examined, improved and tinkered with by those behind the scenes. However apart from that, the bots work autonomously.
Bots are automated tools that perform repetetive tasks. There are several different active bots on Wikipedia, all with different purposes. For more information on Wikipedia bots, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bots For how to create a bot, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Creating_a_bot For a list of bots on Wikipedia, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_bots_by_number_of_edits
Anyone can answer questions on WikiAnswers. There are no bots here.
Although there are some 'bots' that help out on WikiAnswers, the general population of contributors on WikiAnswers are human.
You can prevent bots from answering your questions on WikiAnswers with useless pat answers by blocking their IP addresses as soon as you notice them.
WikiAnswers currently uses bots to help with categorizing questions, correcting the way questions are asked, adding related link and more. These are simple tasks that can be preformed by bots with a good accuracy rating. These bots however can not answer questions nor can they give advice, this is where the contributor comes in to give WikiAnswers the human aspect.
WikiAnswers bots do not randomly target and flag questions; they use an algorithm to determine answers that should be flagged based on a list of inappropriate words. As with humans, bots do make mistakes, so if you come across an unwarranted flag, please remove it.
Bots can be added in the "Create Server" menu Just remember that "Create Server" only works on LAN:)
No, WikiAnswers does not have an automated response system to answer questions. All of the Answers are provided by contributors like you.
Perhaps the bots, they scan & flag anything that needs to be instantly.
