Best Answer

If by heterozygous you mean someone has one allele for A (AA or Aa) type blood and one for O (ii), though a third allele, for type B, is also a possibility.

If the parents are AA X Ai (phenotype would be A for both) then possibilities for the offspring are: Ai and AA, and all will be type A.

If it's AA (A Blood) x AB (AB blood), then their children will be either AA or AB.

In this cross B (IB IB, IB IO) X A (IA IA, IA IO). The progeny and the genotypes would beB (IB IO), A (IA IO), AB (IA IB), O (IO IO)

By taking into account their genotypes and the probability of gamete formation in both parents. On random crossing, the results can be presented on Punnet square.

Can blood type be determined before birth?

From my research I haven't found a way to know for certain your baby's blood type before birth. You can however narrow it down some if you know the father's and your blood types you could make a punnet square.
