First, recognize that there are most definitely elements about the object of obsession that are clouding your judgment regarding the reality surrounding that object, whether your focus is a person, substance, etc. Second, focus on different areas of life - new hobbies, new people - so that the obsession can take a backseat in your mind. When you do find your thoughts wandering back to the obsession, remember the realities you recgnized. Keep a list and refer back to it. Don't let yourself fall back into a pattern of fantasizing over the object of obsession. Keeping busy and letting go of memories of the obessession can work but remember that it will definitely time, self-awareness and patience - a lot of it.
There are medications and therapy options that apparently can stop ocd. But its better to stop on your own. Make a point of stopping yourself before you do whatever your problem is. Try to stop doing it and you'll notice that its gone very quickly.
Therapy can help a lot, along with family support, and sometimes drugs. Using techniques such as distractions, stimulations and writing down your thoughts can help as well.
In some cases OCD seems to disappear, in others it could get better and very rare extreme cases it could have little effect.
My recommendation though is to think over your thoughts, obsessions, compulsions and reactions and write them down. Then next to it, write down how you try to correct them, and finally write down a way that you can think differently about them. Many people have found this helps.
First of all you should yourself realize that you are not supposed to be thinking about what is actually recurring in your mind and thoughts. Have determination and the genuine urge to get rid of thoughts within you and follow the path of what religion taught you. Think constantly about god deeply and concentrating genuinely. If it doesn't work or if it shows no signs of change then I would recommend you to do more things in your leisure time without sitting and wandering about. When you spend your time worthlessly many have the tendency to think unwanted stuff. My personal experience is that you should involve with more of society to keep your mind distracted that too not one or two days but continuously. If it still doesn't help I'd recommend to meet a counsellor who can treat you with proper advise.

You stop thinking about them and you ignore them the best way you can that's how you get rid of obsessions because if you let your obsessions rule over you it could or would make you very ill indeed so if I were you I would just Stop thinking about them right now.
