But really, there is no ONE way. Some firearms, such as Ruger and Browning, have serial number year ranges on their websites under Customer Service. Winchesters can be dated from serial numbers, either by contacting Winchester, or the Cody Museum in Wyoming. Remington rifles are dated by a letter barrel code. Some guns HAVE no serial numbers (not required until 1968),and can only be dated to the YEARS that the model was made. If you can be a bit more specific, so can we.
