First of all, I am truly sorry for your loss. It is never easy to deal with the death of a loved one, and people have different ways of coming to terms with the loss. You will need to work this through for yourself. Some people surround themselves with things that remind them of the lost loved one, and others don't want to see anything that would remind them of the person they lost. Some people find comfort in rituals, such as prayer and lighting a candle in remembrance of the loved one. Others find it easier to go someplace in solitude and just think about the person and try to remember all the happiness they brought to the lives of others when they were here. Sometimes, it helps to just talk about the person to other sympathetic friends or family. It may sound trite, but time really does heal the wounds of loss. You will never forget your friend, but after some time, you will find that can think of them fondly without as much grief. The amount of time that this takes will vary from person to person, so don't let anyone tell you that, for example, "it has been a year already; time to get over it." There is no time limit on sorrow. A life worth having lived is worth remembering always.
