There are generally two possible approaches to verbal bullying. You can simply refuse to talk to the bully in question (which admittedly is not always possible since there are sometimes people who have an unavoidable role in our lives) or you can see if you are able to be as nasty, or nastier in return. If someone insults you, you are entitled to insult that person in return. This exercise in mutual aggression may or may not have any useful result. It might also mean that verbal bullying will escalate to more serious violence, so use caution. Avoidance of unpleasant people is usually the better strategy, when it is possible.
