It might be that their physical isn't pretty and they think they would have a better chance with their own gender. If you realize they are gay do not be harsh on them by trying to fix the problem by forcing them to be with an opposite gender partner. There is nothing to cope with. Be glad your son is out and proud and most importantly happy! And be happy and proud for him. There is no one to 'blame' as being gay is as natural as being tall. Teach him about safe sex or direct him to a LGBT resource centre in your area, or online.
