Go on line and look at the value of the car. Look at what other people are selling them for in good shape, look at what they go for in poor shape. Asses what shape you vehicle is in, from that try to determine what you can sell it for as a whole. If you think the vehicle is to rusted or to rough to ever go on the road again, and you feel that you can not get anything for it if you try to sell it as a whole, then parting it out may be a good option. Strip the motor, transmission, tires and wheels and anything else that you may be able to sell in your local classifieds, or an auction web site. This is especially effective on older, more rare vehicles that have more valuable parts that people can use toward the restoration of there own. and remember on these older vehicle that almost every little part has some sort of value (trim pieces, radio delete plates, badges, good glass ect...)
