Remove anything that you are not using, like unused sheets. Do the same with any unused data. Things like pictures will greatly add to the size of a file, so remove any of those that are not necessary. You may not get a major reduction in size when you've done these things, but it should help a little. Older versions of Excel use less space for the same files, so you could save the file in an earlier format, by doing a Save As and picking an older version in Save As Type at the bottom of the dialog box. You can also zip a saved file to make it smaller.
