How do you defeat orphan in final fantasy 13?

Orphan is very tough in his first form but there is a good strategy to use to beat him. First and Foremost your final party should be Lightning, Hope, and Fang and they should be fully developed in their primary roles (the roles available to them before you got all of them for everyone). If they are not fully developed in their primary roles grind on the enemies before the final fight. To start of the fight I would have the paradigm COM, SAB, SYN, switching to MED, SAB, MED when you need to heal. After a good amount of buffs and debuffs are established switch to RAV, COM, RAV, to stagger him, and switching to MED, COM, MED when you need to heal. Be sure that when he is staggered you have bravery on yourself and debrave on orphan, with this combination switch to COM, COM, RAV and you will deal massive amounts of damage to him. Whenever he uses merciless judgment immediately switch to MED, SEN, MED until you are back in good shape. Since merciless judgment also resets Orphans stagger bar you have to stagger him quickly even if this means you cant get status buffs and debuffs. Save your tech points to use renew to get out of difficult situations. Hope this helps and remember you might have to try a few times before it works (it took me 3 or 4 times with this strategy). Oh and don't worry about Orphan's second form it's a big joke, if you have bravery on you and debrave on him (actually he might not be susceptible to debrave but just be sure to have bravery on) then you can kill him in one or two staggers. Don't be intimidated by the fact that he can't be hurt until he's staggered or by the doom counter.
