The "end of the volcano" is meeting Sir Peleas and fighting the Fearsome Fire beast (a robot dragon). Completing the dragon fight sends you and Sir Peleas back to your spaceship.
You pull the lever to make the dragon fall asleep and then, in the short time you have, you have to fire the arrows in his mouth. You have to do that 3 times and then you have defeated him.
The mechanical dragon (fearsome fire beast) is inside the volcano on the Fire Planet, past the lava, cinder blasts, and "eye monster".
