Be careful though, since the circuit may not provide enough power to run the new LED- you could potentially burn out the circuitry that supplies the power, if any. If you want to replace the LED with one that is a *lot* brighter, you'd be better off making a new power circuit and using the power through the existing LED circuit to turn on the power to your new power circuit.
