Fix the problem that caused the light to come on. Have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool to retrieve the code. This code will help you determine what is wrong.
I was told by the dealer that it was about 18-20 miles. Not sure how accurate that is. My fuel light came on yesterday, mine is a 2003 Grand Am. So I am checking to see how far I get. You have roughly 1.5 gallons left when the light comes on. The 6 cylinder model holds 14.1 gallons
That is the check engine light.
