You generally can't change the area code on your landline. If you live in an overlay area (a geographic area with more than one area code for the same place), you may be able to get a new number with a different area code, but you will also have a whole new local number.

∙ 9y agoFirst, pick up the handset and wait for a dial tone. Then press the buttons with numbers on them in the same order as the telephone number you are trying to reach. If the telephone has a round dial with ten holes in it, place your index finger in the hole over each digit in sequence and draw the dial around in a circular motion until your finger hits the metal finger stop, and repeat for the remaining digits.
