Unplug daytime running light module. It is located on driver side just under the front of the truck.
push in on your dome override button twice. Note you will have to do this everytime you shut it off. the engine has to be running when you do this, this also disables the automatic headlights. Hope this helps.
Daytime running light module may be the problem
daytime running lights for chevys are automatic. you cant turn them off. all you can do is control the high and low beams.
If you mean the daytime running lights , just put your emergency / parking brake on when you are parked
If you cut the wire from the light switch to the frount running lights (single use light) you can then hook a new wire from a keyed power source (check manuel) and the running lights will come on every time you start the truck. costs $Priceless
By depressing the parking brake only one(1) click so that it will not engage the brake, but the lever will stay down, this will disable the daytime driving lights. The parking brake indicator light will stay lit on the instrument panel however. It's simple. There is a fuse in your fuse box that you can take out and it will disable the lights. It's either fuse # 2,5,15,22, or 23. The little green light in the upper left portion of your instrument panel will still operate as if the lights have never been de-activated. It will stay lit until you manualy turn your headlights on, then it will go out.
It was daytime.
Not sure on the disconnect part, but after you start the truck, push your dome light on and off 4 times, you will hear it chime, the daytime running lights will then be out. But you gotta do it each time you start the vehicle....
== == Sounds like a defective head light switch to me. Have a mech check it with a curcuit tester to see which contacts are not live.
Evidentally the lights were wired up wrong. You will have to take ti to someone and have it streightened out. Are you sure they don't work? They only come on when the engine is running and the vehcile is in gear. If you just start the truck up and look for the lights, they will not be on. It has to be in gear.
The only way to "turn them off" would be to modify the wiring system. Unless you are a professional and have the wiring diagrams for the truck, I would recommend leaving the system alone.
In the older model Tundras, the running lights are the headlights, not the parking lights. If you open the hood, and look right behind the left headlight, there should be a grey wire with a bulky connector. It should be located right between the battery and the side wall of the truck. Simply disconnect the grey wire and the running lights should come on. You could buy a new daytime running light relay that just loops the circuit back to itself, but this works just the same.
