How do you disable the DRLs on a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor?
The simplest way to disable the DRLs on this vehicle would be to simply press the parking break pedal down JUST a hair. However, you will have to deal with the emergency brake light being on in your cluster panel.
How to disable the DRLs depends on the specific make, model, and year of vehicle you're working on. In some cases it's easy, in some cases it's almost impossible without causing problems. The preponderance of evidence is that DRLs, thoughtfully implemented, do reduce your risk of getting in a crash or hitting a pedestrian or bicyclist. North American regulations permit both good and bad implementations. If you are trying to disable the DRLs preparatory to "converting" your headlamps with an "HID kit", be advised such kits are dangerous and illegal in every single case.
In the 05+ Escapes, the DRLs are controlled by the Smart Junction Box. You need to take it to the dealership and have them reprogram the SJB. Usually runs an hour of labor. There are no resistors or fuses to pull to disable them, the SJB must be reprogrammed.
DRLs are activated through fuse 13 (10 amp size) in your fuse housing inside your engine bay. Removing this will deactivate your DRLs. Just be sure to reinstall it if you have an insurance claim (as most insurance companies will give you a discount for DRLs, but will remove your discount if they find the feature disabled).
Check to make sure your parking brake is completely off. Whenever you set the parking brake, there is an electrical connection that shuts off the drls. Look up under the dash on the driver's side where the parkign brake lever is and look at the connections. The only way the DRLs come on is when the parkign brake is completely off. Even one click will keep the DRLs from coming on. Look there for a possible answer.
Your headlights are your DRLs
It's not manually possible like it was on previous Wrangler model since the DRLs are programmed in the computer. You need to go to your dealer and ask them to configure it in the "Import" mode. Your DRL will then be deactivate. Note that this since this is theoretically illegal, your dealer could refuse to do that.
There is no switch for them - the best way is to pull the fuse.
depress the emergency brake. That will shut off the DRLs.
DRLs didn't become standard on Cadillacs until 1996.
go through the fuse box you will find a fuse to control that but sometimes it might disable more than just your day glows...I did it to my 95 s-10 apply the parking brake--you can push it in one notch and the daytime lights will go off but you will have the brake light on your panel == Answer== Under the drivers side dash on the right of the steering column is a shiny finned metal box with a wire going in and a wire coming out. This is the voltage reducer for the DRLs. Disconnect the wire coming out and the lights won't work.
