The problem is that not all routers have such option. It's purely depends on firmware. If firmware does not allow it there is nothing you can do.

What three commands may be used to leave the global configuration mode and return to the privileged exec mode?

Router#Disable Router > I don't know the second. Update: Disable is the only command I believe. However, looking at an Instructors copy of the lab (for 11.5.1), it lists the answers as: exit and end. So I guess they meant to ask "which two commands may be used to leave global configuration and RETURN to privileged exec mode". Hopefully it's worded correctly on an exam!

Why would one's microwave cause their cable modem to reset and not come back up until the microwave is turned off?

This does not sound like a problem with your cable modem (unless it is integrated with a router), but with your wireless router. Microwave ovens emit radio waves in the gigahertz range. These waves interfere with the transmission of the wireless router on the 2.4 GHz or 5 Ghz range. There is little that you can do about it, except relocating the microwave oven or router and computer. == Addition: Household microwave ovens typically use 2.45 GHz radiation, which means it matches pretty well. However, the radiation from a microwave should not, or barely, leave the oven at all. So either you have your router within, say, 1 meter of your router (in which case you should move either), OR your microwave is broken, in which case you should replace it.

No. Router are designed in the way they can work 24/7 for many years. Sometimes you need to restart it but it's not a big deal.

How does data know which way they are supposed travel in a cable?

From the source. Wherever the data leaves from. For example, when I click "Post This Answer", the packets that include this answer leave my laptop and go to my router. They then go to my ISP, which looks at them and then sends them to wiki.answers.com. Wiki.answers.com then reads the packet and automatically edits this page to include the answer.

Yes. You do not need a network connection to connect to wifi.

Do you need a wireless router if you want xbox live or can you just have the wireless networking adapter?

you need both because the wireless networking adapter is what connects to the wireless router.1Choose your equipment wisely. There are many types of wireless routers, and they are not all created equal. Some of the lower end wireless routers are very basic, and will limit your home network to speed of 56 megabits per second (Mbps.) This is really not a very fast speed. If your access points will be very far apart, consider getting a router with ultra-range abilities, or a dual-band router. Also, while you're at the store, be sure to pick up one wireless access point for each computer you intend to connect to your network.2Remove your DSL or cable modem from the power supply.3Remove the ethernet cable which connects your DSL or cable modem to your computer from the computer, but leave it plugged into the back of your modem. This cable looks something like a phone cord on the ends, but with much larger connectors and a larger, round cable. Do not remove the phone cord from the modem which is plugged into the telephone jack on your wall.4Connect the loose end of the ethernet cable to the internet port on the back of your router. This port should be clearly marked, and will probably be a different color than the other ports.5Reconnect your modem to the power source. To protect it, plug it into the same surge protector which guards your computer.6Plug the ethernet cable which came with your router into the ethernet connector on the network card on the back of your computer. Then plug the other end into one of the ethernet network ports on the back of the router.7Plug the router's power cord into the power supply. This device should also be protected by a surge protector. If you run out of plugs, it is well worth ten or twenty dollars to invest in a second surge protector.8Check the lights on the front or top of your router. The power light should be on, as well as the internet light, the wireless light, the security light, and a light for one of your ethernet network connections. Check to see if any lights are off, flashing, or red or amber in color. This will indicate that the router is having a problem. If any lights are not on as they should be, check your cable connections to ensure that they are securely connected. Repeat the setup steps if necessary.9Install the software provided by your wireless router's manufacturer

How to Setup Linksys Wireless Router on Your Computer?

Once you have finished connecting the router to the modem, you will need to configure your Linksys Wireless Router. Open a browser and enter: http://192.168.1.1/ into the URL box. Enter "Admin" into the username field and leave the password field empty. Click "Internet Setup" and select your connection type. For cable modems, choose "DHCP", and for DSL models, choose "PPPoE." Set up a service set identifier to change the password. Encrypt your wireless connection before using.

Is it ok to leave a wireless router on all the time?

Yes - so long as it's secured with a password. An unsecured router could be used by someone close by - eating into your data allowance if you have a capped plan.
