Under the dash directly above the gas pedal, find the black relay/module that has an upsidedown white label that says "Hamsar". Disconnect the wiring harness that leads to this module. POOF!! no more DRL's. As far as I can tell this affects the DRL's and nothing else.

On a 2002 blazer zr2 what's the easist way to disable drls and automatic headlights?

The simplest way to disable the DRLs on this vehicle would be to simply press the parking break pedal down JUST a hair. However, you will have to deal with the emergency brake light being on in your cluster panel.

How do you disable daytime running lights for a 2005 Ford Escape?

In the 05+ Escapes, the DRLs are controlled by the Smart Junction Box. You need to take it to the dealership and have them reprogram the SJB. Usually runs an hour of labor. There are no resistors or fuses to pull to disable them, the SJB must be reprogrammed.

How to Disable daytime running lights?

How to disable the DRLs depends on the specific make, model, and year of vehicle you're working on. In some cases it's easy, in some cases it's almost impossible without causing problems. The preponderance of evidence is that DRLs, thoughtfully implemented, do reduce your risk of getting in a crash or hitting a pedestrian or bicyclist. North American regulations permit both good and bad implementations. If you are trying to disable the DRLs preparatory to "converting" your headlamps with an "HID kit", be advised such kits are dangerous and illegal in every single case.

What is the problem when the DRLs are not working on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe but the dash light indicates that they are on?

The relay under the dash is either disconnected (a lot of people do this) or it isn't working.

How do you remove drls or modify from 09 lancer ES model?

DRLs are activated through fuse 13 (10 amp size) in your fuse housing inside your engine bay. Removing this will deactivate your DRLs. Just be sure to reinstall it if you have an insurance claim (as most insurance companies will give you a discount for DRLs, but will remove your discount if they find the feature disabled).

How do you get your drl's to work during the day rather than your headlights?

Your headlights are your DRLs

DRLs are not coming the bulbs and the fuses have been changed what else can you do to correct this problem you have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Extended cab?

Check to make sure your parking brake is completely off. Whenever you set the parking brake, there is an electrical connection that shuts off the drls. Look up under the dash on the driver's side where the parkign brake lever is and look at the connections. The only way the DRLs come on is when the parkign brake is completely off. Even one click will keep the DRLs from coming on. Look there for a possible answer.

How do you disable daytime running lights on a 99 Chevy S-10?

go through the fuse box you will find a fuse to control that but sometimes it might disable more than just your day glows...I did it to my 95 s-10 apply the parking brake--you can push it in one notch and the daytime lights will go off but you will have the brake light on your panel == Answer== Under the drivers side dash on the right of the steering column is a shiny finned metal box with a wire going in and a wire coming out. This is the voltage reducer for the DRLs. Disconnect the wire coming out and the lights won't work.

How do you disable the daytime running lights on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK?

It's not manually possible like it was on previous Wrangler model since the DRLs are programmed in the computer. You need to go to your dealer and ask them to configure it in the "Import" mode. Your DRL will then be deactivate. Note that this since this is theoretically illegal, your dealer could refuse to do that.

Did the 1995 Cadillac have running lights that could be turned off?

DRLs didn't become standard on Cadillacs until 1996.

How do you disable daytime running lights on a 98 Chevy silverado?

1. Under your hood you will find a electrical box, with fuses and relays. 2. in the electrical box you will find a "DRL" relay ( day time running ) 3. if you take this out it should turn it off 4. If you wish to keep the running lights functional you can put your emergency brake on one notch and this should kill your DRL until you release your brake. ***Correction: The fuse box you need to look in is the one on the end of the dash on the drivers side, NOT under your hood. The only thing in the electrical box under the hood is a big 50 amp fuse for your lights. If you pull that one, you won't have any headlights at all. There are no relays in the underhood electrical panel for DRLs. To deactivate your DRLs, open the drivers door, pull off the small triangular panel on the end of the dash and look at the diagram on the underside of the panel. On my 1998 Silverado it said the "DRL/Fog Light" fuse was in slot 15. I don't have factory fog lights, so I pulled the fuse and my DRLs are now off!

How do you remove drl's from 09 lancer ES model?

The DRL is controlled by fuse 13, 10 amp size, located in the fuse block located inside your engine bay. Removing this fuse will deactivate your DRLs. If you get into an accident and file a claim, be sure to reinstall this fuse, as most insurance companies give you a discount for having DRLs but will penalize you if they find out you disabled it.

How do you turn off headlight on a 2003 Pontiac when idling?

If it doesn't have the daylight sensor on the dash, you should be able to turn the DRLs off by applying the emergency brakes.

How do you turn off drl 1999 Toyota solara v6?

Try this. Before starting the car, engage the parking brake. Start the car, release the brake. The DRLs will be off on some models. If you don't want the DRLs on at all, look under the hood for a gray plug. It'll be on the right side wheel well closer to the passenger than the radiator. Unplug that and your running lights will be off. Cheers

Why do your headlights always stay on in the Pontiac vibe?

What you're seeing is not your headlights. They are your Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs'). They are a great safety feature, making you much more visible to other drivers.

How do i fix the day time running lamps on my 02 Chevy trailblazer ltz?

First off, check the bulbs. It's not at all unusual for both bulbs to be NG. Failing that, look for a previous (yuppie spawn) owner to have disabled the DRLs after installing illegal blinding headlamp bulbs. Next, if available, get BCM codes and data and refer to the wiring diagrams, elsetherwise, get a mechanic.

Why do my drls not work on a 97 sierra?

The fuse may be blown or both drl's went out at the same time, don't laugh it can happen or your parking brake has a connector that also shuts off your drl's and that electrical connection may be stuck. If you set your parkign brake when starting your truck, the battery will not reuqire all that extra load to turn on the drls while trying to start the truck. so check those three things to begin with and then maybe it's a relay.

Is their a picture of the DRL?

I'm not sure I understand your question. DRL stands for daytime running lights. Your daytime running lights are on the front of your car; when you are driving, even if you have the headlights in the off position, the DRLs will be on. It's a safety feature.

How do you turn off daytime running lights on a Honda Accord?

First off, as of July, 2005, there are no federal laws in the US that mandate DRLs on passenger vehicles. If your dealer refuses to disconnect your DRLs, saying "they're a mandatory safety item," then your dealer is lying. 2006 Honda Accord. It's very easy to disable the DRL on the 2006 Accord Coupe. I can only guess that sedans are probably the same. I have done it w/no ill effects other than what I will note. Simply pull fuse #3 from the interior fuse box. It's a 10 amp fuse in the bottom row 3rd from the left. It's clearly shown in the owner's manual. The only downside is that it causes a DRL warning light in the instrument panel to light. It is supposed to tell you there is a problem w/the DRL circuit. It does turn off when you have the headlights on (but not the parking lights). I don't find that the warning light is overly annoying (though that is subjective), especially since it turns off when the headlights are on. 1997 and later Honda/Acura. To disable the highbeam DRL for all Hondas/Acuras 1997 model year or later, just look for the DRL fuse in the fuse box under the dash. It should be a 7.5A fuse. There is another one that is 10A, but it doesn't need to be removed. This worked for both a 1997 Honda CRV Canadian version and 2004 Acura RSX.

How do you disconect the daytime running lights on a Holden VE Commodore?

Disconnecting a working light may make your car defectable under law. "All lights fitted to a vehicle must be working". So why would you want to disconnect the DRL's from a new vehicle??? == Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are bright, white, forward-facing lights that improve the forward conspicuousness of vehicles in the daytime. They are usually activated automatically when the engine is running. NRMA Motoring & Services commissioned a study of DRLs in 2003 which suggested that they should be standard on all vehicles as they could save lives and prevent injuries by increasing vehicle visibility.

Why does my daytime running lights burn out all the time on your 2001 gmc sierra?

the daytime running light bulb on the GMC trucks is not, contrary to popular belief, a 3157 bulb. A 3157 bulb cannot handle the voltage spikes that are created in the circuit. Use a 4157 bulb and you shouldn't have anymore problems with the DRLs burning out.
