How do you disable the factory theft deterrent system on 87 Toyota Cressida it has cut off the motor and we cant start the car?

I have the same problem. Normally the horn blows as alarm and it can be reset by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key. Sometimes I find the ignition disabled fodr no reason and it will not start until it automatically resets itself in 15 or 20 minutes. My mechanic says the theft deterrent system is integral inthe computer and cannot be dis-connected. I think there must be some way to bypass it.
