if it is a wired smoke alarm (with a company, with this the company typically will automatically alert Emergency Services when the alarm is activated), it will usually have a panel somewhere in the house.
Usually there is a way to deactivate it directly from the panel (or via other methods such as a remote that came with the panel). However, varying by the company, some may call you when it activates. If they do, they can deactivate it for you over the phone.
If you want to remove it completely, just call the company to cancel the service.
