To avoid, this full discharge and inability to recharge, you must unplug it, turn it off. Then when you plug it back in and turn it back on, it will fully charge again. I believe that it is this built in feature to protect from over charging a battery that is leading to so many people reporting batteries that are fully discharged and will not recharge.
