On a 2008, fuse 13 (10 amp) located inside the fuse box in the engine bay controls your DRL. Removing it should disable your lights.
You disconnect your battery and then reconnect your battery again.

There should be a wire for your day time running lights that goes into the parking brake valve behind the dash, just disconnect the correct wire and they are disconnected. It worked for me on a 07 classic xl.
Not sure on the disconnect part, but after you start the truck, push your dome light on and off 4 times, you will hear it chime, the daytime running lights will then be out. But you gotta do it each time you start the vehicle....
If it is still on when your car is off it may be a sensor to your brake lights that may need looked at. depending on the year, if it is a 1997 the box is located on the driver's side front fender it is a black box about 4 inches x 4 inches and a pigtail goes into it unplug that pig tail and you will not have day time running lights, you will also not have the highbeam indicator light on the dash
