You have to remove the fuse for the speedo. You can not have both speedo and odometer at the same time. Also your computer will store the actuall mileage so someone could scan the computer and know how many miles are on it. The only thing you gain is speeding tickets, I have done this already!
As long as you reuse your spacers from the 94 CBR on the new 98 rim, it should work. However, you should look to see if both or them had speedo-cables. If the 94 has a speedo cable and the 98 does not (electronic), then the 98 wheel might be missing the slots that the speedo gear fits into.
