The hump, as popularized by Sarah Palin and Snooki, is done with a plastic thing called a Bumpit. The procedure is pretty simple: go to where on your head you want the bump and use a rattail comb to lift a nice thick hunk of hair away from your scalp. Put a LOT of hairspray on the hair you didn't lift up, then immediately set the Bumpit in place. Spray it some more. Bring the hair down over the Bumpit to hide it, then spray your hair again. By the time you're done you have hair with a hump in it, and that's so hard you could get hit in the head with a shovel and never know.
