Hmmm the only thing that I could tell you is that "br" means Battle Rifle. This is sometime used in halo 2 and 3 as a shorter name for the Battle Rifle (aka BR). Otherwise put more info if you got this "br" from somwhere else.
Why isn't there a br in Halo 3 odst?
Because bungie wanted people to use some other weapons for once, seeing how as the BR destroys all. Also the pistol was supposed to replace it in ODST.

Because in odst the game goes back to its roots sort of with the pistol and health packs and such in halo ce there was no br your pistol was your best friend so in odst the pistol got revamped into the wrecking ball it once was i mean a pistol with a 2x scope who needs a br

Try to use p over br all the time. If, for any reason, p does not work for your design then you should use br. I honestly never use br.
