I have got water in the diesel fuel on my bmw 32o d 2004 model how do I drain it off
what yeR IS THIS VEHICLE IS IT A 7.3 DIESEL ,OR A 7.3 POWERSTROKE THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN THE FUEL SYSTEM ON A POWERSTROKE,ON TOP OF ENGINE NECT TO FUEL FILTER IS A SMALL(USUALLY yELLOW) LEVER TURN THIS LEVER AND THE WATER WILL DRAIN FROM FILER ON A 7.3 DIESEL ,ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL FILTER IS A ROUND DISK ,ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUATER UNSCREW THIS DISK AAND THE WATER WILL DRAIN FROM THE FILTER.THIS DISK DOES NOT SCREW RIGHT OFF FILTER JUST OPENS TO ALLOW WATER TO DRAIN RETIGHTER WHEN WATER QUITS AND FUEL STARTS RUNNING OUT
If it really has water in it I would just buy a new fuel filter.AnswerStart the engine, open the draincock (on Bottom of can) and drain about half a cup into a bowl. when the diesel has pushed out the water close the draincock and shut off the engine. Dispose of the contaminated fuel sensibly.
Pump is about 150 and I just charged 200 in labor on a customers 03 duramax pickup.
NO
You can drain the cooling system then refill with clean water and a cup of "Lestoil" household cleaner. Run the engine for several hours then drain the system and repeat the process until the drain water runs clean. Refill with a mixture of 50% water and 50% antifreeze and you will be fine.
if it is a diesel it is built in to the fuel filter that is on top of the engine. on the 7.3l there is a yellow lever on the back of the housing that you can drain the water/fuel from it
Where is the water drain for the Water in Fuel light?
White smoke is usually a sign of water in combustion chamber-check oil for any signs of water in oil
No, drain it now and catch the fuel that come out. If there is water in it you may need to change the filter, and clean the fuel tank to remove the water. Water is very damaging to a diesel fuel system.
if you can run the tank low. pour a couple of bottles of rubbing alcohol in the tank. this will mix with the water, making it burnable. finish filling the tank with diesel. then plow your heart out . . some fuel tanks have a drain on the bottom and you can remove and drain fuel, and open the water separator drain on the filter housing. i would change the fuel filters and fill with clean diesel. you can also remove the fuel line after the pump to let it pump the tank dry or just drop the fuel tank and clean it out like that I WOULD NOT USE ALCOHOL TO MAKE WATER MIX AND GO THROUGH A DIESEL ENGINE LIKE YOU WOULD WITH A GAS ENGINE. More information as to what you are working on would allow for a more detailed answer. coop. Hi there Water in the diesel or what is sometimes known as 'diesel bug' can be an issue in most cases its simply involves undoing a drain plug on the diesel fuel filter, there is also a great product which can prevent this and also improves performance and prevents such problems occuring in the first place more can be found on this here http://www.aquasolve.co.uk
