There isn't a drain plug , you have to drop the transmission pan
No you don't have to drop the transmission in order to replace the slave cylinder, but be careful because it can easily be stripped.
disconnect the fuel lines, supply and return, and vapor line and disconnect electrical connector and drop the gas tank. Drain it first.
Drop the tank and there is a round plate on the top where the hoses connect. The filter is on the end of the pickup tube inside the tank.
the fuel pump on a 1992 Chevy pickup is located inside the gas tank but is attached to the top side of it. you have to drop the gas tank to get it out but up want to make sure that there is not much gas in there when you do it because it will be extremely heavy if you don't.
You will need to drop the transmission pan and replace the gasket. While you're at it, replace the filter and clean the pan.

drop your transmission if it is a manual you have to remove the clutch and pressure plate or automatic the torque converter has to be removed and it should be right there but its hard to get out some times
I had found the pump to be in the fuel tank ! I had to drop the cover and then drain what little gas was left . Disconnect all fuel lines and vent hoses . Then the tank was free to drop . Removed the pump and cleaned tank prior to installation ... Then , reinstalled .
