You can edit registry but it is recommended that you do not edit registry if you are not a programmer because editing registry incorrectly can cause havoc.
Delete all the registry entries for the program, then delete all the program files. Finally, delete bckd.sys from the drivers folder (c:\windows\system32\drivers) and reboot. If you don't know where all the registry entries and files are stored, use an uninstaller program such as Revo Uninstaller Pro. This will automatically locate the relevant files and registry entries for you.

Well you should first use add/remove programs to uninstall the app before installing it. If there are leftover files then, you can go ahead and delete them. If you really want to, you could use a registry cleaner program (such as ccleaner) to remove all entries.
