On internet Explorer 9 (latest stable version):
Open Internet Explorer, click tools, and point to POP-Up Blocker. Click POP-Up Blocker Settings.
Windows 2000 does not include a pop-up blocker.
Pop up Blocker
In order to stop ads from appearing when you visit websites, you should enable the pop up blocker. In most browsers you can do this be opening Settings and then Advanced Settings. You will find your pop up blocker here.
To enable pop-up windows in your browser, go to the settings or preferences menu. For most browsers, find the privacy or security section and look for pop-up blocker settings. You can either disable the pop-up blocker entirely or add specific websites to an exception list to allow pop-ups. Be cautious when allowing pop-ups, as they can sometimes contain unwanted ads or malicious content.
To stop ads you need to enable popup blocker. To do so follow below steps: 1. Click the menu button and choose Options. 2. Select the Content panel. 3. In the content panel, check Block pop-up windows to enable pop-up blocker altogether. 4. Click on Exceptions to list sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.

Get a pop-up blocker. Do a Google search on Pop Up blocker and you'll see all sorts of ways. Most are free, or come with your security package (Norton, McAfee). However, if you have Windows XP, go to TOOLS on the uppper toolbar. There is a POP UP Blocker option. Just click on TURN ON POP UP BLOCKER.
