Those all have electronic transfer cases. You put the vehicle in neutral or park, and turn the knob to either 4H or 4L. The hubs lock automatically.

It depends on if its 4x4 or 2x4. On the 2x4 version its located on the rear of the transmission. If its 4x4 it is located on the transfer case.
The Owners Manual sez to be in Neutral when changing from one mode to the other.
Put it on jack stand. If the four wheel does not engage pull the cord on it and see if you can engage it manualy. If that works the actuater is bad and not pulling the cord.
If the button is not working, might be a vacuum line problem. Vacuum lines engage the 4x4, might need to check the lines to the 4x4 transfer case.

sounds to me like your front end is not disengaging, bad actuator under battery.

check to see if your transfer case has to much fluid in it . remove upper plug .
Need to put truck in 4x4 with engine off, transmission in park key onTake a test light and check the wires on the Actuator, and see if they are hot.If they are hot Then replace the 4x4 Actuator in the front housing.If they are not, Then check the 4x4 fuse
