On your 1997 Mercury Mountaineer :
Open the rear doors from the outside and on the end of the doors near the
latch you will see a small lever that is used to select child locks on or off
When you open the doors there is a lever on the door itself that you can switch up or down depending on if you want to engage or disengage the child safety locks. There should be a sticker indicating which way to lock-unlock.
well, I'm not much of a gun person, but I'm sitting here with my Winchester 69A. Just playing with it a little, you can only engage the safety when the gun is cocked. The safety is in the "fire" position when it is in the forward position and it is in the safe position when pulled back.
You must stop, shift into neutral, then shift into 4x4 high/low and back into drive. To disengage, stop again, shift to neutral, then shift back in 2x4 and drive, for safety you should reverse about 10-15 feet to help disengage the shaft.

In the right front passenger footwell , by the kick panel , there is a fuel pump shut off ( inertia ) switch that " kills " the power to the electric fuel pump if your Mountaineer suffers a significant jolt from a collision or maybe hitting a bad pothole - its a safety device
The black door handle inside is probably broken. Mine was and I replaced it with parts from ebay. Only about $12.00
Yes. Engage the safety.
Open the door and on the rim, you'll see the switch.
No, according to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, Mercury is neither flammable or combustible.
Automatic door locks engage on the 2003 Ford Explorer for safety.
The child safety lock is engaged. Disengage it on the door next to the latch.
The pistol is not cocking, and safety will no engage except in cocked position. Get it to a gunsmith. This is an unsafe condition.
