Unless you have the tape measure that calculates the horse's weight it may be easier to go by halter size. The average horse per halter size is between 800 and 1100 lbs. When buying a halter there will be a tag with a list of sizes per lbs. of horse. Or if you know horses well enough you can just 'eye' it. I use the eye-it method but I've had a lot of pratice.
