You find out the charge of nucleus (a number of protons), multiply it by mass of proton. Then substitute the result from the mass of nucleus and divide by mass of neutron. The result will give number of neutrons in the nuclei.

To determine the number of neutrons in an atom, subtract the atomic number (number of protons) from the Atomic Mass (rounded to the nearest whole number). Neutrons do not carry an electrical charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom along with protons.

You find out the atomic mass and atomic number and simply use the equation:

atomic mass - atomic number = number of neutrons there are

e.g. Aluminum has an atomic mass of 27 and and atomic number of 13, so it has 14 neutrons, simple

A typical atom of iodine contains 74 neutrons.

How many neutrons does an atom of 21Ne have?

An atom of 21Ne has 11 neutrons. This is determined by subtracting the atomic number (which is 10 for neon) from the atomic mass number (which is 21 in this case).

45 neutrons

What accounts for most of the size of an atom?

The size of an atom is mainly determined by the arrangement of electrons around the nucleus. Electrons are constantly moving in an electron cloud, leading to a fuzzy boundary for the atom. The nucleus, which contains protons and neutrons, contributes very little to the overall size of an atom.

How do you calculate how many neutrons there are in a atom?

The atomic weight minus the number of protons = the atom's neutrons.

How many neutrons are in one atom?

The number of neutrons in one atom can vary depending on the element. Neutrons are one of the three main subatomic particles found in an atom, along with protons and electrons. The number of neutrons in an atom is calculated by subtracting the number of protons (atomic number) from the atomic mass of the atom.

How can you figure the numbers of neutrons in an atom?

You subtract the atomic number from the atomic weight. For example, if you have a helium atom and its atomic weight is 4 and you subtract its atomic number (2) the number of neutrons in the helium atom is 2.
