You probably mean Tannin. And there is normally no tannin in deep wells. Only in shallow wells.
That is not always the case. It depends very much on where the well is drilled. I have seen many shallow wells with perfect water.
Underground water sources include:Wells: dug wells (shallow) and bored wells (deep)Springs: Artesian springs and surface springsSeeps such as oases.
they easily spread diseases they are shallow in nature
Most towns have water wells and water is pumped from these to a filter plant and then to homes.

no they did not have water wells but they did have gold wells
Wells get water from the underground water table.
Some heat pumps use shallow wells to draw water, transfer heat, and return the water to a second shallow well. All other A/C units using water are called chillers or cooling towers, and even a small unit is larger than a semi truck trailer..
If the pipe is still in the ground, drop a weight on a string down it and see how much if any water is in the bottom of the pipe. Shallow wells can come and go depending on location, the source of the water and the weather. If there is still water in it, you hook a pump up to the pipe, prime it and start pumping.
You put water wells where there is shortage of water. For example India has loads of villages with Wells.
That really depends on your location, age of the pipes, and what is the source of the water. Normally if you live in a big city you can normally get away with just a simple faucet filter. If you say live in the country where your water comes in from wells, you might want a three step system that will filter out sand, minerals, and even depending on the area, microbe filter. This is normally a reverse osmoses filter. It really depends what you want to filter out, not everything in water is bad for you.
