You can either open the drivers door and there will be an information sticker on the
" B " pillar at the trailing edge of the drivers door that shows the VIN or you can look
through the windshield from outside on the drivers side and mounted on the top of the
dash is a metal plate showing the VIN
you look on the engine for the motor number

On a 2008 Ford Ranger : You will find the Data Link Connector for your OBD II in the lower part of your dash , below the steering wheel , between the inside hood release and the parking brake / emergency brake release . It is behind a small plastic panel that removes ( or possibly flips up )
