First, its not advisable to simply take verses out of the context of their defined subject and object as they were meant to be read and understood. Specific verses are used to guide one back to the entire work from the whole of the text (line upon line and precept upon precept). Verses should not be used to re-define biblical meaning by simply taking snippets here and their as one chooses.
That said:
I often use verses or pieces of what I remember to take me back to the point in The Bible where a specific subject was being discussed. There are now several electronic and "on line" tools which can be used to search for specific verses. Another tool to consider is the Strong's concordance for the KJV bible. The Strong"s has all the words of bible in concordance and often times has phrases or "lead ins" where the word is used.
