The hampster is not stuck in the vents, it is very happy there. However trying to get it out will be a challenge to you. Try to put its cage near an opening to the vent area and make it easy for the hampster to get to the cage, make food very available inside the cage and wait for the hamster to go to the food. Other than calling in a professional, this is the only way to get the hampster out.
Well first if it's a little ways down you can make a latter for him. If you have hanging file folders you can take the metal rods out of each side and tape tooth picks all the way up to make a small latter. The hanging file rods should have a sort of hook on the ends you can hook so it won't fall in the vent too. Use fav food and put open cage close to the top of the latter or hook the latter off the open door of the cage so he just climbs right back in. He will have been so traumatized he may just go into his little hiding spot with some food for quite a while.
I had a hamster get stuck in a wall once, I lured him out by placing one of his favorite treats by the hole and waiting. You could always put his cage by the opening with a treat or two to entice him in. good luck.
my hamster is hiding in our air vents. I know because it smells like an old hamster cage. My question is how do I get it out?? Our last hamster died in there and it smelled almost as bad. (ps: if you have a 3 year old, don't get a hamster!) One way to get a hamster out is to look for a ceiling vent in your basement. If you have floor vents in your first floor, then the ceiling vent will be on the same level. Once you find a ceiling vent, find where hammy is hiding. Listen for little footsteps in the air vents. When you think he's near the ceiling vent, stuck hamster tubes up inside of it. Hammy won't be able to resist crawling in his hamster tubes! That's how i got my hamster out of the air vents. - ya u totally copied that from the hamster hideout forum...
Why is itdying? did you check the vent in the back it may be patsy butt - a very common condition where poo gets caked up there causing the vent to be blocked. It is easy to clean with a cloth and some warm water.
its a ride with a vent.
