It depends on how recent this person lived. The most recent census info available is 1930 - if they were born after this it gets a little tricky. Write down what you do know about this person - every little detail, quirk, all of the info you can remember. Do you know where they went to high school? Contact the Alumni association or search for them on Reunion.com or Classmates.com Where did they live when you lost contact? Try searching the local paper archives. There are several for hire services that will search all public data - results are almost instant. I found a relative that way knowing only her general geographic location and her name. Good hunting!
