I have a Savage Model 340A, 30-30 and it has no serial number. I was told that the older ones did not have any. At the time it was made it was not legally required to have one.

I can't help with the date of production, but I have a model 5 topped with a mossberg # 9 scope (side mounted). I, too, have been trying to seek information about the date of production, but I can only find information starting with model 6. Those dates are between 1935 - 1965
you will find the production date of any car on the sticker attached to the driver side door frame, or in some cases on the door itself.
