The information and potential treatments that can be derived from these tissues may save millions of lives. Other individuals feel this is unacceptable - the harvesting of stem cells causes the embryo to die, thus becomes equated with murder. To these individuals, the embryo is morally the same as an adult human, with the attendant right to life and to not be destroyed involuntarily for medical research.
