looking for parts for a old ariens tiller the gear that rides on the worm that runs tines the shaft is splined where gear sits
Try to find out who built the tiller for Wards (they were built for Wards by some big outdoor equipment company, there was never a "Montgomery Wards Tiller Factory"). If you can find out who made it, their parts department should be able to help you. Good luck, though - Wards has been gone for some time now, and all parts are eventually replaced with "newer models". You might be out of luck.
One can find information about snow blowers from the Ariens online website. Various snow blowers from Ariens are for sale on the official website and can be purchased.
You should be able to go to the website and find your tiller in the parts search area
Ariens make eight different ranges of snow blowers. Full information about all of these can be found on the Ariens website, together with a list of local dealers.
The best Ariens snow blowers are the older models with the Tecumseh engine. Tecumseh was the largest manufacture of small engines in North America but were bought out and sold on Dec.15, 2008. Another company bought the rights to it and still makes parts for the engines. Now Ariens uses China engines. I still use my 1976 Ariens Snow blower with the Tecumseh on it. Its built to last and last. All metal construction and starts on the first pull. So your best bet is to find a older Ariens (pre- 2008).
Try a website for motorcycle parts and repairs.
I bought one of these at Menards 2 years ago. Snow Devil seams to have disappeared as a brand name and has apparently been re-branded as a WEN product. The LCT engines were used by Ariens (don't know if they still are). But Ariens dealers may be a source for parts.
There are many places a person may purchase an Ariens snowblower. For instance, the websites Equipatron, Home Depot, and Snow Blowers at Jacks sell these snowblowers.
